Recommendations for nursing chair? Dutailier or something else?

I'd never considered getting a specific nursing chair before, but I used Mothercare's nursing room yesterday and almost drifted off as I was so comfortable. I'm now thinking it would be a good idea as LO will be moving into his own room soon and I'd like to put a comfy chair in there for night feeds, story reading and general chilling out.

That Mothercare one was a Dutailier. Anyone know if that is the best brand or are there other brands you'd recommend?

Thanks!

I had a Dutailier it was incredible, soooo relaxing. I got the cheaper of the 2 styles that were around then, with a rounded back, but got the matching stool so you can put feet up.

Very pricey but worth it. Heavenly

I have a dutailier too and I love it. So does everyone who visits! (and they don't have babies..)

My dd is only bf once a day now but I use it for tv watching and general chilling out.

While they are expensive new, you can snap them up quite cheaply on ebay.. mine was £47, for one that would have cost £475 new!

I have 10 week old DS & we have Dutallier Alice. Was £169 I think from their website and comes with glider footstool. Sooo comfy!

OOh yes. It's still £169 on their website. I'm watching a few on ebay but if I don't win one I'll get that. Thanks.

I'm thinking of getting a Dutailier nursing chair but I have so many doubts. Do you really need the matching gliding footstool? Do the armrests get in the way once the baby gets older (and longer)? Is it safe to buy a used one on ebay or gumtree? If not, any advice on where to get best prices for new ones? What features are useful (recline?, swivel?? multiposition? etc.). Sorry for asking so many questions. Any help really appreciated. Thanks!

We have a Hauck one which is pretty good. We got ours second hand on ebay for about £90 I think. They are great. Not sure I'd buy one new though.

We bought the Dutalier Eileen with footstool. I don't think it's a specific nursing one but I preferred the style and the option of darker wood which matches our furniture. It is super comfy. I would recommend the footstool but don't use the recline function much.

My 7 mo dd has just moved into her own room and I realised I'd need a chair for night feeds - fed her on cushions on the floor for a while which was really uncomfortable! After looking at some old mn threads about nursing chairs, we bought a second hand ikea 'poang' chair from eBay for £44 and although not a specific 'nursing' chair, it is perfect for feeding and reading bedtime stories in. I'd definitely recommend it.

yep, i'm with MidlandsMom - the ikea poang chair is just fine. it has arms at just the right height for you to lean on - i use a cushion on the arms if i'm not reclining that much! the footstool is good too. it's got a bit of bounce to it as well, so good for rocking your LO to sleep or comforting them if you need to. they even do a mini version i might get for DS when he's a bit older!

Oh, I love my nursing chair! I think it's not dutalier- I got it from Kiddicare or Precious Little One, can't remember whch, with footstool, for about £190. Lovely, lovely, lovely. With footstool. Not bf any more (she's 15 months and I'm 22 weeks pg, too painful to continue) but I use it when she wakes at night- she's been having bad nights recently as ill so has still been much used.
