DS is still feeding far too much, 8 weeks old. 200ml every feed around every 2 hours!

Okay, so I posted before about my HV complaining that DS was feeding too much and trying to force me to give him water.

He's still feeding way too much, he's 8 weeks now and taking 200ml (around 7oz) every feed and feeding every 2-3 hours. He has dropped a feed at night but in order to do this he screams for food for a couple of hours before bed, totalling around 400ml in an hour and a half.

I wasn't too worried before but 400ml in an hour and a half?? He's gaining weight fast and now doesn't fit size 3 nappies as they cut into his thighs. :( He fills out clothes for 3-6 and 4-6 months well and looks near enough the size of my friends 5 month old...

Please help. Is this too much? Is there a reason for him feeding this much? I thought growth spurt at first but it's now been going on for just over 2 weeks.

I'm starting to get really quite worried...

Hi. I'm not sure about quantities as DS is bf and dd was smaller and didn't have a big appetite. Ds was feeding this frequently at 8 weeks and also wore larger clothes - he was in 6-9 month clothes at around 3 months. He was on the 50th and 75th centies for height and weight at birth but quickly went in to 91st and 98th.

He is 14 months now, still tall and heavy, still has a good appetite and is now in 12-18 month clothes.....

Also in my nhs red book I think it says there is usually not a problem if a baby is above the centiles, but slow weight gain which can be a problem?

See, the reason I am so worried is because literally, a few weeks ago he was in tiny baby and early baby clothes. He was only 6.1lb at birth.

I hadn't worried too much before but I am a little now. It just seems that him upping what he wants to drink is endless. :(

I'm not sure what centile he is on now. Confused but he has definitely more than doubled his birth weight.

Thanks for replying. :)

Oh, forgot to say it's hungry baby milk I am giving him. On normal milk he just feeds constantly near enough.

If you're worried and not sure about centiles - maybe check with HV? They can be helpful with some things...

Unfortunately she's useless with numbers. She completely buggered up tracking his centiles before. I think I will take him to the clinic on Monday. :)
