4 years of tandem nursing!

DD2 is 4 years old today and is happily nursing (of her own volition just in case anyone thinks otherwise ) .

When she was born, I tandem nursed her with DD1, I had 1 month of just nursing DD2 when DD1 self weaned at 8m pg with DD3. When DD3 was born I tandem nursed her and DD2.

DD3 is now 2.1y and DD2 is 4y today.

Lots of happy memories and many more to come.

Just thought I would share.

I have been lactating and/or breastfeeding/dry nursing since March 2006. This is give or take the gaps in pg when I stop making milk but the DDs never cared much and carried on dry nursing.

I'm up to 115m of cumulative nursing

Wow! It's quite amazing when you put it like that!

Without taking away from your achievement, this is how we are meant to function biologically speaking and it's a bit sad that something so normal is seen as something out of the ordinary.

I have been tandemming for 21 months, done 94months cumulatively and have been constantly nursing since Oct 2005!

Not that it's a competition of course

That's amazing! I'll know where to come for tandem advice if I ever pluck up the courage to try for DC2!

I shall point to this thread the next time someone asks if bf is good contraception .

WhoIsThat - BF is a good form of contraception if certain conditions are met with :)

if DS1 had carried on BF throguh DS2's pg I would have been similar. As it is I've been lactating with a (5 month break) since Dec '05, tandem nursed for 2 years and 4 months now just down to my lovely DD -thank goodness-- as DS2 last nursed sometimes after his 4th brithdat but not since.

That's the thing Mawbroon, it is perfectly normal (biologically speaking) to spend your adult life pregnant, breastfeeding or both. I just can't believe I've managed to keep going at times!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes for DD2 - she had a lovely party and really enjoyed herself but is now paying the price with a fever and achy joints.
