Wake 6 day old in night to feed??

My little girl weighed 8lb5 on the 17th - is already nearly back up to birth weight which is great and making me feel more confident about my breastfeeding! I am waking her about 4am for a night feed - I don't know how long she would go if I left her (or whether it would be too long).

I know this is a short term issue - and she'll be having growth spurts before I know it - and demanding to be fed - anyone have any thoughts on this??

Wake her - or see how long she sleeps??

As you are bfing I would say yes, breastmilk is digested very quickly and if you don't feed through the night it could have an effect on your milk supply, especially as it's not properly established yet.

D'Oh this is after last feed 11pm ish - I woke up at three (4 hours later) - then cracked and woke her up at 3:40 (having this dilemma)

Congrats on your new DD, sounds like things are going well so far!

Yes, I would be waking her for night feeds too, my DD2 was very sleepy and I would have to wake her regularly to feed. At this age you should expect to BF 10-12 times in 24 hours so every 2-3 hours day and night. As Rikalaily said, if you go too long then it can affect supply and also weight gain.

You might find this useful. :)
