Just finished my 4th feed in as many hours with my 3week old DD. Was thinking there must be other mums on here in the same position, so if you are- well done you are doing great.
I am settled into the sofa with a dvd, drink and a bar of chocolate and think I might just be stuck here for the rest of the evening. Also considering changing my name to daisy Grin
Apparently she will stop growing so fast soon ....

:)

Good on you :)

I considered changing my name to ermintrude just a few weeks ago. Totally relate to how you're feeling. You're doing a fab job though!

NigellaLawless · 21/11/2011 21:14

Oh i feel your pain and i agree with everyone else: it sounds like you are doing a great job!

Our first 6 weeks were a constant growth spurt and just when I thought we were starting to see a routine forming with a heavenly 3 hours between feeds we have hit the 12 week growth spurt a week early and ds has been cluster feeding since 4am today Confused

I combination feed and as well him having an all day buffet on me, ds has already had 2 7oz bottles (he usually only has one bottle at around midnight)

Unfortunately dh is working an 18 hour day so no help for me with nappies/winding/consoling dh when i need a toilet break. And as for getting me fed, thank god for Biscuit

If we get to rename ourselves I'm going for Clarabelle Grin

i keep questioning myself about this constant feeding, thinking there must be something wrong. ds is 6 weeks now and since sunday it feels like all i've done is feed him. add to that the fact that he won't sleep anywhere but on us, and it's driving me round the twist. please someone tell me it will get better and he won't be attached either to a boob or our chests forever...

nannyl · 22/11/2011 10:01

yup

another cow here, although at 5 weeks i gave in, started expressing and got daddy to do the evening feed as i really started to resent spending ALL evening (til 10pm) feeding baby.

(I can cope with all /most of the day, but ALL evening as well was too much for me)

I feel even more like a cow when attached to my pump "milking" though, but at least its over and done with in 10 mins!

MOOOOOOO !!!!!

Yesturday my 9 week old baby fed
7 - 7.30
10 - 10.20
11 - 11.55
1.15 - 1.25 (fell asleep then 1.40 - 2.30)
3.15 - 3.50
5 - 5.30
6.30pm 7oz bottle of breast milk
11.10 - 11.40pm
02.15 - 4.15.... 2 Boobies AND a 3oz bottle

ALotToTakeIn · 22/11/2011 11:19

it got worse last night as she fed constantly (bar stopping to burp/fart/change) from 11pm to 3am. I seriously started to worry my nipples were going to drop off! By this point she had been awake 4 hrs and was simply upset because she was so tired and didn't want to eat any more so we gave in and gave her a dummy and she finally went to sleep.
I now have boobs the size of watermelons this morning and a very sleepy baby.
Mooo

My DD is 3 weeks old too. She seems to have 1 day of constant feeding then 1 day where she feeds normally. It's all new to me as I failed miserably at BF with DS.

lookout · 22/11/2011 11:31

OP, that was my ds the night before last. Sadly after he finally went to sleep at 4am he was still up at 7 for another feed.

CuppaTeaJanice, I have the exact same problem, one good day then one odd one. I am constantly asking myself if I'm doing something wrong??!!

JAMW · 22/11/2011 11:52

DS fed SEVEN times between 10:30 & 8. He's 3 and a half months and gaining 1/2lb to 1lb a week. it;s just been a giant growth spurt!

a few times i've been so raw i've given him a bottle and the next day its been worse as i dont have enough milk :(

MissusTulip · 22/11/2011 15:07

Moo moo moo moo. Please make it stop!

Ds 4 weeks today and has been feeding every hour on the hour since 3am. He prob would have done all night but thank god dddh stayed downstairs with squealing ds trying to work with him to let me get a little sleep. Ds meanwhile has slept for an hr between 4-5am and 40 mins during a walk, otherwise 5-10 mins max (enough time for a poo for mummy thank god, damn iron tablets Blush ). Slowly losing my mind..

Took ages to work out why he was crying on the boob (gulp gulp wah!) and screaming off it - tired.

Thank you for starting this thread - always reassuring not to feel alone in the milking shed!

Any ideas why this happens when supply good (literally squirted in his face earlier!)? Growth spurt at a month??

NigellaLawless · 23/11/2011 10:31

following my last post ds slept from 9.30pm - 4.30am. He woke to feed and went back to sleep at 5am. We had a lovely day of half hour feeds spaced out with 2 or 3 hours inbetween and another night of sleep from 9.30 - 4

So I can promise you it does get better.

I remember weeping at 3 weeks after a 9 hour feed (I kid you not) when the hv told me things would get better around 6 weeks. All i could think was i would never make it to 6 weeks without giving up bf, now we are 2 days away from 12 weeks and still bfing.

But i have to say that it was actually at 8 weeks that things got better for us. You are all doing so well, hang on in there (if that is what you want to do) because it will improve Grin

ALotToTakeIn · 28/11/2011 08:04

She did another 4 hr cluster marathon last night and exhausted herself into screaming again so that is 6 days since the last time. I hate the was it makes me soo upset, I love bf the rest of the time but get super grumpy during these sessions.
