wondering how often your 7 week olds fed ?? During the day mine feeds every 1 1/2-2 hrs and at night the same although twice this week she slept for a 4 hr then 3 hr stint at night. Tonight has been horrible though :( every 2 hrs .
Yesterday she had a really long sleep 3pm-6pm then feed then 630om-bedtime(9) then every 2hrs.

Should I be keeping her awake more during the day or let her sleep when she needs to??have been reading conflicting advice although gut instinct says I should have tried to keep her awake more to get her sleeping longer.

Felt great yday after good ish nights sleep, to day is going to be totally different :( luckily we have nothing planned do I think a long lay in for me so I can get as much sleep as possible.

Hi are you breas feeding or bottle feeding?

Velvetcu · 16/11/2011 05:25

I'm wondering the same about my 4wo who has suddenly this week decided to become nocturnal and feed every 1-2 hrs at night but 3-4 in the day. I'm bf btw.

Hi Crazy
My 7.5 week old DS feeds every 90 - 120 minutes during the day unless he has a big sleep of 4 hours (usually only if he hasn't had other naps so is really grouchy and fed loads anyway to keep up his energy). Occasionnally it stretches to 3 hours, but usually because I'm out and about and he's in the sling so asleep....

He cluster feeds in the evening from about 7.30pm until 10ish, then feeds again around 3am and again around 6am....

Ive had a few bad nights in the last couple of weeks where he fed every 2 hours and I thought I was going to go crazy (or just cry) and that this was his new "routine". it only ever lasted one night though thankfully.

There are also some days when he wants to feed ever hour for about 3 hours, then will have a bigger break. We have no routine though, thanks to the advice on MN I decided just to demand feed and it seems ok, he is naturally spacing out most of his feeds....

Hi
Thanks for the reply!
Yeah I'm feeding on demand too.had two fab nights but then last night back to every 1-2 hrs :( hopefully she'll be going longer tonight.
She s feeding every 1 1/2. - 2 hrs during the day, hoping this will improve. Her little friend born the day before sleeps 10-5am ! One day I'm sure she ll sleep longer :D

She might be having a growth spurt? My 20 week old still feeds every 2 hours in the day. But I see it as tanking up for the night where she will sometimes sleep for 9 hours (bliss). Hope you have a better night tonight!
As for naps I'd let her sleep but maybe feed her after 3 hours if she's still not up? And wake her a couple of hours at least before you want her to go to bed!

Thanks peeps! She has been asleep an hour now but will wake her when DH comes home from work in a bit :-) fingers crossed for tonight! One thing I remember that was different last night was I fed her sat up in bed rathe than on nursing chair in nursery. I think this may have contributed to the wind issues as I am always hunched over feeding in bed! It's only because DH has begun sleeping downstairs again :( I'll take her to nursery for feeding tonight I think.
Once her nursery is decorated she will be going into her cot bed in there as she is quite cramped in her basket!
