Get peckish during night due to BF

Hello,

I am BF my 5.5month DD and late at night and during the night I get peckish and need a snack. At the same time I am trying to shed my pregnancy kilos!

Does anyone know of healthy late night / during the night snacks? Yesterday I had a piece of toast with butter and honey, the only other option was an apple but seeing as I had seen the dentist earlier in the day for treatment I needed something soft.

Thanks.

Bananas are a good option I used to have yoghurts when I needed a snack in the night, they were fine out the fridge for a few hours.

This will sound strange but a glass of milk is a great snack. Helps with fluid intake, has a little protein to keep you fuller and is quite low fat/low cal so good for weight loss.

I have a pot of dried fruit. I get hungry too!

Bananas definitely, I remember reading that they have chemicals in them that helps you sleep. I swear by them... although if there's none left then chocolate or shortbread are nice too Blush

Seriously though, I've had problems with my teeth since my first pregnancy and think my dentist may be the one who is really benefitting from all my late night snacking.

My HV gave me some good advice to have a bedside drawer stashed with muesli/breakfast bars. And always have a bottle of water to hand.

I always found getting out of bed in time for breakfast tricky with a newborn, so the bars were a godsend.

Thanks for the advice, I eat all the above so will stock up and hope for the best. That said, with Xmas round the corner I am not sure how much I will shed. Ho hum!

i ususally have a bowl of cereal (fruit and fibre) just before i go to bed and drink water during the night.

however it is now a slice of toast with nutella and a hot chocolate. i cannot stop eating, but am walking pushing a double buggy most days.

I often used to have a glass of milk after a night feed, seems to fill a gap and is easy

I used to take a glass of water and some dried fruit to bed. I just found I stopped eating the fruit after a while as we started co-sleeping and it became more of a dozey, cuddly affair. Chewing would have woken me up.
