stupid questions! Milk coming in...

Is there anything that can be done to help milk come in quicker?
I Had a bad experience breastfeeding DC1, but was much more successful with DC2.

Have had 2 DC previously, both with emcs, and my milk took a good 5 days to come in. I hardly seemed to have any colostrum last time, and I just let him suck/feed as often as possible/he wanted, despite this DC2 still had urates in his nappy at about day 4 and I almost gave in and gave him formula to help clear them, Midwife said to give him a tiny spoonful of boiled water, which I did. Midwife then gave me some Brewer's Yeast (Solgar I think) and said that it would help with the milk coming in, Vit B12??. I have no idea if this is true and evidence based or just an old wives tale! But I did what she said, and my milk did come in eventually.

Forward to now and DC3 is due soon, and this time I'm having an elective CS, and Im worried that my milk might take even longer to come in. So is there anything I can do to speed it up a bit? Take Brewers Yeast???

Sorry for the babble!

Hi there,

Not stupid questions at all!

I've never heard of Brewers Yeast myself, so don't know about that, but thought you might like the kellymom page about bfing after a cs.

HTH and hope all goes well for you.

Hi - I had an emergency CS & my milk didn't come in for 6/7 days.. My BF peer supporter advised lots and lots of skin to skin. No idea if it helped but was all that got me through. Good luck with the new arrival!
