16 day old feeding constantly all day....growth spurt?

Ds2 is 16 days and has literally been feeding since 7am this morning he had 1 nap between 2 and 4pm but apart from that he's been on the breast all day. Generally he has been doing well and regained his birth weight and is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies but every time I put him down he screams for more food. Does this sound like a growth spurt or am I doing something wrong? Never managed to bf ds1 so am not very clued up on what to expect this time but really want to make it work this time.

my DD did this the other day and my DD must be the same age as your DS. My health visitor said this was normal and ok :) your not doing anything wrong, you seem to be doing everything right!

Thanks cherry that makes me feel better. Just a case of riding it out! My boobs are getting so sore though and ds is getting sloppy with his latch now ouch!! Congratulations on the birth of your DD :) Hopefully we will go back to normal tomorrow.

As long as your getting wet/dirty nappi's and is gaining weight. Your not soure at all (as this could indicate a latch problem) then is sounds completly normal. He's still tiny and ajusting to the outside world. don't forget BF isn't just about food it's comfort as well which is very important for a tiny baby.

DS is 19 days and from about 16 days wanted to feed every hour or more. exhausting for me! Today though he's been more reasonable at only every 2 hours, with a 3 hour gap this afternoon letting me have a nap!!

I'm hoping he'll stay in this routine but doubt it. No advice, just to let you now you're not alone!

the same thing happened to me, it probably is a growth spurt and every day wont be like this. Just be proud of your body for doing this! after a few weeks it will really settle down and you'll be more able to predict when baby feeds. All the best
