Any tips for managing hiccoughs in a newborn?

DS3 is 3 weeks old and suffers from the most enormous hiccoughs after virtually every feed, even after he's been thoroughly winded. He gets very distressed.

Does anyone have any tips for preventing them coming in the first place, and managing them once they're here?

Any ideas how long until he grows out of them?

I used to give mine a drink, and when they were older I used to make them laugh. Its seemed to work not instantly but eventually.
