I thought the bedtime feed would be the last to go?

My DS is 14 months. For the last few months he's been having three BFs per day - first thing, before his nap and before bed. Tonight he refused his bedtime feed for the fourth time in ten days (and the second day running) - so have decided he's telling me he's ready to drop that feed. It just feels odd, because I thought that would probably be the last feed to go. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this? I imagine it's probably the beginning of the end of BFing, which I will be a bit sad about but I'm not particularly keen to keep him going really.

I think it largely depends on the baby. DS1 it was the last one to go as he used ot nurse to sleep. DS2 (who stopped recently at 4) never really nursed to sleep even as a small baby DD nurses all the time here and htere.
With DS2 and DD i wanted the morning one to be the last to go as I really enjoyed the first thing cuddles and the extra time in bed and found that was the one I really missed with DS1

Yeah, I like the excuse for extra time in bed too! Though my DS has recently got into a habit of waking at 5.50am and I feed him in his room and then he goes back to sleep for a variable amount of time. Today it was until almost 9am! Shame it was my turn for a lie in anyway - tomorrow when it's my turn to get up he's bound to wake for the day at 6am...

first thing in the morning has been the last to go with my 3 children too (as well as my sisters experience with her 5 children) would have prefered to just do one feed before bed, but they seem to really 'need' it in the morning... plus as everyone else has said it gives you an extra 30 mins at least in bed!!!

Interesting. OK, well, I think DH is going to do the whole of bedtime tonight just to see how it goes! Hopefully it will go well. If this is the end of the bedtime feed it's actually really freeing as it will mean I can occasionally go for a drink after work/go and do something in the early evening and DH can handle bedtime.

DS went through phases of not wanting a bedtime feed but it did come back.

Also you can go out even if you're still feeding at bedtime - I certainly did!

Yeah, he had a feed tonight, but only a half-hearted one. But I think if I do want to be out for bedtime now I will do so and not feel bad about it - I know he can cope fine without that feed.

My daughter was ff but we had issues getting her to take much milk at all at bedtime pretty much from weaning (she much preferred solids to milk). People generally seemed quite surprised she didnt want milk just because it was bedtime

Ds stopped feeding to sleep when he was one, and it was his morning feed that was the last to go. As others have said, it worked well for me
