Anyone bf at around 2yrs, am struggling

Hello

I'm surprising myself month by month as we carry on bf. DS is now 23 mo. Is anyone else finding it so hard? I'm at work some of the time and DS is happy without feeding. But when I'm there, it the pulling and tugging that's tbh a bit of a pain. And then the nights aren't good. He's never slept well but recently has settled better in the cot at night. But still he comes into us sometime during the night. I don't mind co-sleeping. I like it in fact. But it's the wanting to feed thing which is becoming tricky. I try to resist and then around 4.30/5 he'll manouever himself on and then want to be on there until we're getting up. If I pull away, he'll have mini-tantrum and it goes on from there. Anyone else? I know it's going to be tricky to stop feeding completely at this stage. He's also a 'very attached to mummy' boy in general at the moment. When I'm not around he's fine. When I'm there he resists anyone else doing anything for him. He's lovely Grin but...

He's my last baby, the surprise no. 3 that DH was not keen on having....

My DD1 is 2.9yo and sometimes BF her drives me nuts. Other times I am really glad that I still am, like when she is ill or when she falls over and hurts herself. It's OK to not like it all the time but I find it hard to complain about it because so many people just say "why don't you just stop then", like it would be easy for either one of us. I am planning to let her self wean because I do love BF even though it sometimes drives me nuts and it's good for her.

Is there a LLL group near you? They are great places to meet other extended BF to have a good moan about stuff like this Grin

Ah yes, LLL - that would be a good plan! You're right, it is handy sometimes. I bf DS to sleep sometimes for naptime and that can be a godsend.

I understand why you're talking about. I BF ds2 until 26ish months. There were most definitely days and nights when I just didn't like being pawed at but overall the closeness between us and the way it helped him to chill and relax happily were well worth it. And I'm happy to say that the closeness and the ability to relax still exist now that the BF has ended. I couldn't bring myself to force him to stop so I waited until I felt that he could understand, I mean, properly understand, how and why he was stopping as I just didn't want to upset him over something that made him so happy. Make sense? Sorry it's a bit rambly! :)
