Hi

I'm new to this site so apologies if I've done something wrong. I am worried that my 4 month old son is refusing his 7am bottle feed. have tried delaying it etc and nothing. If I keep persevering until he's eaten it he sicks most of it up. Does anyone have any advice? Is this normal? Thanks!

~PS he's fine with all his other bottles. Ta

I wish I had had mn when my DS1 was a babe. I thought I was the only person in the world with a baby who wouldn't feed or sleep! Know exactly where you are coming from Charlie74.

It definately helps and reassures me to know there are other people out there who are not only going through the same thing but can offer suggestions on how to resolve things .

By the way, I went to my GP with ds and have been referred to a pediatrician. DS went for 7 hours without wanting a feed yesterday and even then he took 5oz () in 45 mins on a fast teat and promptly threw it all up again, so feeding on demand wont work. Think his is more a phsycological prob (seems scared of the bottle coming near him at first and takes me ages to get him latched on) coupled with reflux and a stinking cold - poor little guy.

It'll be a couple of weeks before we get an appt but at least we're on the list.

Oh no. Poor u. 7 hours and then only 5 oz blimey! I have heard that reflux babies can develop a kind of food nervousness thingy (u can always rely on me for the professional terms! Didn't experience that fortunately. Hopefully its just because of his cold though.

Oh Charlie poor you, hope it gets sorted out. Its such a shame for such a little baby to have to go through this and so hard for you. Hope you have lots of support at home?

There is another thread at the moment about a baby with a cold who wont eat so as peachandpear said hopefully it is the cold.

Charlie74 · 06/12/2005 10:58

His cold seems on his way out now but he's still only taking a small amount at each feed. I changed his teats again and he seems to like these better. HV suggested feeding him with a spoon (!!!!!!!!!!) you can tell she doens't have kids of her own (I'm sure she wouldn't want to practise on mine) I struggle getting Calpol down him with a syringe let alone milk on a spoon - does that work??. I'm seriously thinking of weaning him even tho its advised to wait will 6 months - any views? do babies gain more weight on solids and do they throw up as much? He's a grumpy little thing at the mo and just wants to be held and he's also kindly passed on his cold to the both of us (waiting for the cat to start sneezing!!! )

Will check out that other thread. Cheers!

can anyone offer any advice? my 6mth old (on tues) has not been interested in her 7am feed for almost a month now. she has also started to wake in the night seeming to be hungry although last night i didn't feed her and she went back to sleep each time she woke with the help of a dummy!..and STILL refused her 7am feed taking her last feed at 10.30 last night. i started weaning her about a month ago and she is now establisehed on 2 solid feeeds a day 11am and 6pm. we were following the gina ford contented baby routines but everything has gone awol and don't know how to get back on track. any advice?
