10 mo will only nap in day if i breastfeed her first

im going bk to work so need dd to be able to nap 4 her gran and at nursery, at the mo she wil need to be bf first and if not she screams and gets so distressed and eventualy cries herself to sleep . My partner has to do it as i cant. its horrible, tried this about 4 times. isnt there a kinder way?

plus i have the milk and she knws that so it seems more cruel for me to do it and refuse her milk

Have you tried taking her for a walk at nap times?

yes but she wont realy sleep in the pram and we dont drive

You might find that the nursery and your Mum/MIL have their own ways of getting her to sleep. She wants milk from you as you have it, but it's not the same if you're not there. Try not to worry too much, ask nursery what they do and speak to your Mum/MIL. I bet they can get her to sleep when you're not there. That doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong by the way, it's just that children adapt well.

I agree, other carers will find their own way to get her to sleep. I tend to bf my ds before naps too but when he spent a weekend with my mum she rocked him to sleep, and at nursery they just pop him in a cot with a dummy and he lies down and goes to sleep by himself

Dd3 feeds to sleep for me but cuddles dh if I'm not there.if pm there it HAS to be me!

Exactly the same experience for me. DD would get very upset if I was there and didn't feed her but was quite happy to be cuddled to sleep by DH or her childminder.

I agree too. My own 10 month old goes to nursery full time. He will only sleep for me in the day after breastfeeding or extensive walks in the pram. But at nursery, he snuggles down in a bouncy chair and has two sleeps per day virtually like clockwork. I've seen him with my own eyes snoozing away. Seriously, the nursery think I'm mad when I say I've trouble getting him to sleep.

This did take a week or two to happen though (and I imagine there were a few tears when he got overtired) but don't be distressed if your baby takes a little while to settle down to sleeping. My experience is that my naughty boy will let anyone BUT me put him to bed.
