My dd's been prescribed infant gaviscon for reflux and when I can get it down her it really does seem to help, but I'm finding it really difficult to get into her and I seem to be forcing it down her while she screams in terror which makes me feel dreadful and I'm on the verge of giving up with it. She's breastfed and won't even let a bottle teat between her lips, won't slurp it off a spoon and I don't just want to tip it in for fear of her choking on it, and syringing it into her cheek works but she'll tolerate at most 1 or 2mls dripped in really, really slowly and then will just scream and stiffen her little body trying to escape. She will reluctantly continue to swallow it as a kind of reflex between screams but it feels like torturing her. 15ml just seems like so much liquid to get into her. Trying to give it half way through a feed starts off better but then just degenerates into screaming again and puts her off the rest of her feed. Has anyone got any tips? Everything else I read just seems to say that their baby takes it off a spoon/bottle with no mention of any difficulties, so what am I doing wrong?
