No poo for 4 days? 7 wk old..

Hi it's day 4 of poo watch in our house! My ds has been unsettled the last few days and earlier today was going a bit red in the face and seemed uncomfortable with the smelliest farts ever!

We've recently started giving him one formula bottle a day but he is otherwise bf and until the last 10 days was pooing daily. Tomorrow is day 5 and the farts are getting worse... Is there anything I can do? I felt so sorry for him earlier not getting anywhere..

hi, ds1 and ds2 have gone up to 10 days between poos! ds2 farts like mad but doesn't seem uncomfortable. he is fully bf though, hopefully someone else will know if it's different if he has a bottle a day.

it sounds like it could be the switch over, Might be constipation but not necessarily it might just be taking a while to gothroughds. try rubbing ds's tummy in a clockwise direction, moving his legs in a cycling motion while hes lying down or you could try sips of diluted orange juice (although I can remember how much juice to water, sorry)

I'd hold off on the formula til his digestive system has started working normally again, then maybe have another go.

Thanks for the advice, dh massaged his tummy and cycled his legs this morning and he has had a couple of ounces of cooled boiled water and... Voila!! Poo central! he's in a great mood now, much happier!

Also love the name RitaMorgan, my ds was very nearly called Dexter!
