OK he's nearly 11 m and know he should be on a cup but anyway...........

Have managed to get him to take bottles has 3 on a nursery day, at weekend wants 4 (makes around 800ml in total). Has last one around 5 which is when he seems to want it, goes to bed at 7 but then awake at 10 for a feed (I BF him then).

Should I give him another bottle at bedtime so he can last through the 10pm feed? That would make 5 bottles which seems excessive. What do others do?

Also worried about teeth (his one that is), used to have a BF last thing but if I give him a FF feed then I would have to clean his teeth then - would I?

Advice please, BFing was so much easier in some ways!

at that age both of mine had only 2 milk feeds - am and pm. 5 seems an awful lot. Does he take much food?

fifitot · 29/05/2011 13:02

Thanks Seona. He doesn't eat as much food as I would like so trying to cut back on the milk. Will try and stick to 3 for now and reduce it.

Can I ask - does your LO have a bottle before bed?

Yes, FF babies need their teeth cleaning after the last FF in the evening, unfortunately. FM doesn't have the same protective effects as BM on the teeth.

Of course, BF babies need to have their teeth cleaned in the evening as well, but can be BF afterwards without worry.

How about offering the day time milk in a cup? He probably won't take so much because without the sucking it isn't so pleasurable.

fifitot · 01/06/2011 08:42

Yes thinking will try a cup next.
