3mo not feeding in the afternoon??

Well, she 'feeds' but doesn't eat much at all, and her nappy is not very wet at bedtime. And now she's starting to wake twice in the night for milk. She feeds well at night and in the morning but not in the afternoon. ATM I'm offering the breast (she's EBF) about every 2 hrs when she wakes from a sleep. Do you think making her wait and thus being a bit hungrier might help? I'd obviously rather she fed properly during the day and not at night! Or is this just another 'this too will pass' phase?

How long has this been going on for?

For a good 6 weeks or so, possibly longer. She was losing weight but since upping her night feeds she's gaining and growing well.

Hmmm, I think I would maybe just go with it for the time being - she is still very young. Obviously not ideal in the long run but at this age they will adapt quite easily.

My 3 mo is similar. He feeds well until lunchtime and then is snacky and distracted in the afternoon. He also doesn't nap well then. He has a good feed at 7 and goes down to sleep by 8 but also wakes twice in the night. I think this is pretty normal at this age, and even if I do get him to have good afternoon feeds, it doesn't seem to make much difference to the night feeds. I've decided not to try to do anything to reduce the night feeds for at least another couple of months, much as I'd love to, just because I think he's too young to drop them right now. Do you have other children who are around in the afternoon? I think my DS's distracted afternoon feeding is partly due to having a 2 yo charging around in the day. He feeds much better when his brother's asleep!

YES! I also have a manic 2yo! It's nice to hear from someone else suffering the same thing! I don't think there's much we can do about the night feeds, as you said they need them ATM. She also doesn't nap well in the afternoon, sigh.
