After I had to go away for a week without DS (family stuff), I decided that when I got back I should just stop feeding him as it seemed like a good chance to stop. He was a complete milk monster and loved feeding day and night, which was lovely but tiring.

Going cold-turkey was never my plan and seemed quite harsh, but I've stuck to my guns and it's actually been a lot easier than I expected it to be. He's asked a few times, but doesn't seem too bothered and undertands that 'meme' is gone now. Getting him to sleep at night was a nightmare in the beginning, but has now settled and he's sleeping better than when I was feeding him.

I feel happy and sad and free all at the same time. I was very lucky because both DS and I took to Bfing well and I didn't have any major problems.

Just wanted to post this because it seems like the end of an era. Grin

Now I'm just waiting for my poor boobs to get back to normal as they have never been so small since I was about 13! Grin

Just wanted to say, you're right, it sooo feels like the end of an era!!

Similar to toilet training, sometimes seems difficult, and then they just get it and nappy era over!!

So hard and relentless are those nights getting them to sleep, I found DS1 very hard, then DD1 not even an issue- made me so appreciate her ;-) knowing how tough to could have been.

Don't you find some of the things you're anxious about how 'they'll' be actually aren't as bad as you thought? I was dreading having DS and DD sharing a bedroom at one and three years old- moved them in and no problems, now they wont go to bed without each other!

Congratulations though, awesome two year effort!!
Be proud ;-)

Thanks SmilingKiwi. You're totally right. Think we spend far too much time stressing out over how our kids will react when they just take it all in their stride.

I fed DD until nearly 3 and dreaded stopping but like you found it wasn't that bad and she got over it really quickly. Currently weaning my 11 month old off, a bit earlier than expected but he is taking it quite well too! In fact I felt rather miffed if I'm honest!

Well done on doing 2 years though. I couldn't face it this time round again.
