DS is 8m, he was born on 50th centile, went down to 25th, dipped under it for a while, then back to 50th at 4m. I weighed him at home the other day, and I know my scales are not as accurate but I think he's now around the 75th.

He is on about 4 or 5 bfs a day (2 are ebm in a bottle as I am back at work) and 3 meals. We had started with blw, but when he started at the CM he was refusing milk so we started spoonfeeding to make sure he was getting something.

He is lovely and chubby and has gorgeous creases in his arms and legs and a big tummy but because the job of a mum is to second guess everything you do, I am now worrying that he is being overfed! I guess that once he starts moving he'll burn it off? Is it normal for babies to pile it on a bit once they start having 3 good meals a day?

Mine has got fatter since he started solids. I haven't had him weighed in months so I have no idea how fat though Grin

I only did it to check he hadn't outgrown the car seat! Grin I think that he just like's his food (like mother like son Wink ) It's not like we are forcefeeding him, he stops when he wants to.

Cosmosis

This sounds exactly the same as my DS - ebf until weaning at 6months. He started on 50th centile, dropped to the 9th centile, then zoomed up to the 90th centile and now at 16 months is back on the 50th centile where he started! He did indeed burn it off once he started moving around and he didn't start crawling properly until he was about 11 months old but his weight has still sorted itself out. He was still having 4-5 breast feeds plus 3 meals until he was at least 13- 14 months as well.

Ummmm not sure what the point of this post is but you're not alone!

If you hadn't weighed him would you have had any concerns about his weight gain?

If you are really worried take him to baby clinic and have him weighed on properly calibrated clinical scales.

He sounds absolutely fine to me. I weigh babies at clinic all the time and it's rare they stay precisely on one line at every weigh in. Wriggling around between a couple of centiles and sometimes even going up (after a growth spurt)or down(under the weather) up to two centiles is nothing to worry about.

right I had already noticed he'd done a bit of a grow, but I think it was plotting the centile that shocked me. Damn red book!

Thanks cairn glad he's not the only one.

He's a lovely chubby boy and I'll carry on loving his cherubic rolls of fat and stop worrying over silly things Grin
