my dd is 9 months old and only has around 3 breasteeds most days (plus one at night). I wore a new bra yesterday as i was going out and wanted to look a little less droopy - it is a nice underwired pushup type one. but today I have felt like I have pulled a muscle around my right breast and now its just stinging its not hugely painful but it is uncomfortable. There are no lumps or marks but it has felt a little engorged which i havent felt for months now.

have i broken it!?
and will this resolve itself? or do i need to do anything in particular?

The wiring may very well have caused a duct to become blocked. Try to get in an extra feed or two to help flush the breast and clear the blockage. During feeds massage the area to encourage the blockage to clear.

If you feel any flu like symptoms, fever, achey etc then get to the doc a.s.a.p. Mastitis(infection of a blocked duct) takes hold very quickly and you'll need antibiotics.

I've been breastfeeding for years, and worn an underwire for most of it,but the golden rule is never never wear anything, nursing bra or wire, that pushes your breasts into a different shape.I got blocked ducts from a nursing bra that pulled my breasts apart slightly, and from a bra that pressed on them at the front too much.Look for one which holds them up in as natural a position as possible. You may have a bit of a block in that breast now, feed as much as you can,a really long feed seems to shift a block better than anything else, and have a warm bath before a feed.I wear a bra with wires cut lowish at the front so that I can pull the cup aside to feed, but it isn't at all a push-up.Its a fantasie style, but I can't remember the name of it.its pretty much this one www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sensational-sets/naomi-bra/heather/fyu1he/?show=16&sort=1
