TTC & BF - has anyone gotten pregnant without ever getting periods back

I'm still waiting for AF to arrive and have been also trying to conceive for over half a year. I have been cutting down on feeds the past few months in an effort to get ovulation back.

I just do a pregnancy test every month to check as I've no periods to go by. DH thinks I'm fooling myself and need to get AF back before there'll be any BFP. I know that scientifically, there is a rare chance that the first egg could get fertilised but my heart says I'd never be so lucky.

Has anybody gotten pregnant whilst breastfeeding and not had their periods back at all? I'd love to hear if you have.

Not me, but my friend did - she was bfing her 2 year old and had never had AF. I guess you have to ov that first time in order for your AF to come back, so technically your DH is wrong. Similarly I suppose, I got pg again straight after a miscarriage last year without waiting for AF first. Good luck!

I got pregnant when ebf ds2 was 8 months old, no periods back - sadly miscarried but got pregnant again straight away without period between.

What is AF? I guess it means period but I can't figure out what it stands for and it's annoying me!

IIRC Wotmania on here did twice.

AF is Aunt Flo, who visits monthly. Don't know where the name came from. T'was always know as "the curse" in our house.

That really gives me some hope that I could possibly get pregnant even without my periods coming back.

Very similar to pearlgirl I too got pg when ebf dd. She was 9 months old when I had a huge miscarriage (had been about 12 weeks apparently).

I had not had any periods so when the mc started I thought something terrible was happening to me .

yup, twice. DS1 was about 9 months when I statred being sick lots and realised that I was pg with DS2 and DS2 was around 12 months when I bought a mooncup because surely my periods must come back soon (we were using contraception too so complete surpprise) but it was another 2+ years til I got to use it as I was already pg with DD.
I went 5 and a half years without periods. They are back now :( but it means I get to use my mooncup :)

Yes, I have. DS2 conceived pretty much the day I stopped BF DS1 (when he was 12 mths) - no period in between. Took me about 6-7 weeks to realise I was pg. I always BF a lot at night, and with DS1 cut down pretty quickly (was expecting to cut down gradually but he seemed perfectly happy with me cutting down so it all happened in about a week or so). Then, with DC3 (currently in utero) I had 2 periods in between beginning giving up BF and getting pg - a more gradual giving up that time though.
