Am I being silly to consider expressing for my 12mo

DD is 12mo, but was nine weeks prem so I suppose you could adjust her back to 10mo.

She is now at nursery all day four days a week. She gets offered cows milk at nursery but never seems to take much of it (1oz if we're lucky).
I happened to have some expressed breast milk today (little monkey had refused to feed from my left boob for three feeds in a row so I expressed that boob for comfort), so put the milk into nursery with her today.

She drank all 120ml of it, which is way more than she ever drinks of cows milk.

I'm considering starting to express each evening for her and sending her in with that to nursery. But is it mad to start expressing now at her age? And if you think its a good idea to express how much should I aim to send in? Or just send in whatever I can get and not worry about quantity...

Thanks

Not mad to express for her if she drinks it.

I wouldn't worry too much about how much you send even an ounce or two would help her fluid intake if she only normally takes an ounce of cows milk.

no of course you're not being silly! If you're happy to express then express!

I don't think I'd aim for a target, just see anything as a bonus :)

I don't think it's silly at all. If you have got the time to express, and the milk is there, then why not? It's great for her, especially if she's not taking much other milk in the day. I would say to just send in what you can though, especially to start with, see how she gets on for a few days. Is she drinking plenty of water, and having milk in the evenings/mornings as well?

I don't think it's silly to try and make sure your DD is getting enough milk. Maybe you could mix the expressed milk with cow's milk and gradually increase the amount of cow's milk until she's just drinking cow's milk.

I stopped BF at 12 months and it took a while (can't remember how long) for DD to build up the taste for cow's. Now she loves it and has about 500ml per day including what she has on her cereal.

Thanks.
It never occurred to me that she wouldn't like the taste of cow's milk. Now that was silly!

I didn't have a huge amount of success at expressing last night but I have a stash in the freezer so sent her in with that, to see if she takes defrosted milk just as well as she takes fresh stuff.

Thanks for the support. It was just that when I took in the milk yesterday, the nursery supervisor kind of gave me a Confused look as though it was the most weird thing in the world for me to be handing in milk for her.
They MUST have had mums putting in EMB at some point in the past I am sure. So I assumed it was her age that was causing the reaction.
