14wk ebf baby (5 wks prem) suddenly feeding loads and not pooing - help!

He's my second, so should remember if his big brother did this but it's all a bit of a blur...

In last week DS2 has gone from feeding every 3 hours to 2.5 at most. Went 3 days without pooing over weekend, when would normally be twice a day, and was clearly massively uncomfortable until he FILLED a nappy.

All back to normal for a couple of days, but now hasn't pooed for 2 days and is sporadically screaming his head off.

He has also started demanding 2 night feeds, rather than one.

Don't know if this is growth spurt related as TBH I can't get my head round when I should correct for prematurity and when to expect normal timings.

Any advice appreciated!

Things change with babies - maybe it's a growth spurt, maybe as he gets bigger he needs more milk, who knows. 2.5 hourly with 2 night feeds is pretty good for a 14 week old though!

Quite often ebf babies poo very infrequently - anything up to about once every 2 weeks is within the normal range - so could just be that?

Around 2 or 3 months (sorry can't remember which) ds suddenly went from a couple of poos a day to about once a week. Its quite common in ebf babies as they digest everything from bm so there is very little waste.

If poos look weird, they are straining or in pain when pooing or stomach is hard, might be a sign of being ill.

Yeah might be growth spurt, feed if in doubt!
