is it worth trying to get over this to carry on bf?

DD is 7 1/2 months, we had a really bad time bf in the beginning but got through it and I have really enjoyed feeding her (compared to my DS where we struggled for the whole 5 months)

I wanted to feed morning and eve until DD reached 1 year however my let down has been getting slower and she's been frustrated and recently didn't put on as much weight as the hv visitor would have liked.

Then the other night DD bit me 3 times during a coughing fit and now it's really painful and because I'm anxious about her biting again my let down has gone into retreat.

She does have formula when she's at grandparents and I'm now considering stopping but still feel guilty after all this time.

Is it likely that things are going into decline and therefore I shouldn't feel guilty for stopping now?

Sorry this is so long

I have BF all three of mine, if they bite you push them towards you and they let go (can't breathe!) don't pull them away as it will hurt more. Also put her down and walk away if she does it repeatedly, they quickly learn that biting is unrewarding.

No-one can tell you what the right thing is to do, just go with what you feel is best. 7 months is a fantastic achievement, well done :)

If the pushing thing doesn't work for you (I could never get the hang of it) then you could try sticking your little finger in the corner of her mouth if she bites. DD1 only ever bit me a couple of times when she had a cold and her nose was bunged up. They do learn very quickly not to bite! I'm still BF DD1 after 2.6 years and she has all her teeth :) so it can be done if you want to carry on.

Thank you. She hasn't bitten since and it's the first time since she got her teeth 1 1/2 months ago I think she was just coughing and then bit down. But it's that it's made me so anxious, she drew blood and now I have a little scab and it hurts during feeding which takes me back to 7 months ago when I had a cracked nipple.

I keep telling myself to get over it and it will heal in a few days but I'm struggling to help myself relax to help my let down.
