Do I need to move onto 6 month + formula as BLW?

Ds nearly 6 months has started BLW a couple of weeks ago , he doesn't eat much yet , nothing compared to his spoon fed friends . Do I still keep him on his stage 1 milk or change , just worried as if weaning with purée etc Im sure he would be consuming more calories.

Follow on milk is just a gimmick, first milk is fine (unless you want to switch as it's cheaper).

Not sure the calorie differences in different formula. But weaning foods generally are a lot lower in calories than milk. Milk is very calorific !

When Reading about BLW it says you don't really decrease milk feeds until 9 months , so perhaps I will try him then, just don't want the milk to be filling him up and never being hungry enough to eat much, but then I don't want him starving . It's all so tricky ! Might post in weaning see if anyone else has ff and blw. Thanks for the replies.

Follow on milk is 'neither needed or recommended' according to the NHS pamphlets I've been given on FFing and Weaning. As RitaMorgan said, it's just a gimmick (it gets around advertising rules). If you've only just started weaning, he probably won't eat much yet - he's just getting started! Don't worry, just keep up with his normal feeds and he will drop them/drink less in his own time.

I imagine that the follow on would fill him up more anyway as it's harder to digest :)
