Petition to urge Durham University catering company to stop selling Nestle products

FrozenNorthPole · 29/03/2011 23:32

I'm a regular mumsnetter trying to put into action a new year's resolution to be more active in promoting things I believe in. My University's catering company prides itself on Fairtrade, organic and locally sources products but has somehow also ended up stocking Nestle chocolate. I'm urging them to reconsider this given their attitude of promoting corporate social responsibility. If you have any connections to Durham, past or present, alumnus or just 'friend' of the city, please please consider putting your name to my petition.

Thank you!

is there a better topic for this to be moved to that might get more traffic?

FrozenNorthPole · 29/03/2011 23:40

Ah, possibly. I'm a bit of a novice at this!

I'm a bit worried about asking to get moved to AIBU or similar as I will get flamed for something, I feel sure.

NUS has long boycotted Nestle - get the students union on to it!

FrozenNorthPole · 29/03/2011 23:56

Thanks Tiktok, I vaguely remember that. Our NUS reps are mostly male, very posh and laconic at the moment ... oh well, that doesn't mean that they won't be interested I suppose!

Bumpity bump for any morning mumsnetters.

When I was at Durham there was a nestle ban.

I had absolutely no idea what it was about. Feeding babies remained a real blind spot for me which was an issue when dd was born!

FrozenNorthPole · 30/03/2011 19:10

Ugh. Only five signatures, one of which is me and one of which is DH. Not quite the resounding response I was hoping for Grin
I have had quite a few e-mails from people saying "all that's in the past" / "but I LIKE KitKats" / "don't rock the boat".

Might try posting this in the correct area of Mumsnet local as a last ditch attempt.
