Ow! Sudden agonising nipple pain hours after last feed :( Any ideas?

Okay, been feeding over two years but this is a new one for me. I've suddenly developed agonising pain in one nipple, feels like the end is burning. I'm at work so haven't fed DS since this morning, around 7 am in bed. Came on really fast about 20 minutes ago for no apparent reason. Now back in the office, rubbing my breast furiously, writhing about and hoping neither of the young men I share a cubicle with notice!

Any idea what this could be/how to resolve it?

Can you have a look at the nipple? It's just on one side? And it's happened hours after a feed?

How old is DS? How is feeding otherwise?

And has this nipple previously been damaged?

Sorry, didn't give much info, did I Blush

Hasn't technically been damaged before but I'm currently pregnant with DS2 and my nipples have been sore/feeding painful throughout (and it's my "good" side that's hurting! :(). DS is two and thankfully has dropped down to one feed a day/less since I found I was pregnant.

I did have a look at it earlier and it looked as though it had a white spot on the end (as in the kind of white spot you get on your knuckles if you grip something hard, not like a whitehead type thing) so been reading about vasospasms on Kellymom. I was cold immediately beforehand (though no more than often) so perhaps it was that? Lasted quite a long time too, though thankfully gone now apart from a slight niggle.
