I did, honest.

What's the oddest / most public place you have breastfed your child?

on stage??

I have breastfed in churches of several denominations.
on the tube/bus/train.
Brighton seafront.
in a boathouse.
at my desk.
at my bosses desk.
in the cinema (Finding Nemo).
on the beach.
in a cable car.
at a swimming pool.
walking round Tescos.
in court well in the waiting room.
I have very well travelled norks.

I like the Finding Nemo detail

There was a thread like this before, there were some great posts - I'll see if I can find it.

hewlettsdaughter · 27/10/2005 19:54

Oh, I can't - the archive searching is switched off.

RainbowWalker · 27/10/2005 19:54

Fed twins on a train once - no mean feat I can tell you!

frannykenstein · 27/10/2005 19:54

Not on stage, but might as well have been. We were right at the front with however many thousand people looking down on us from all sides. I was trying to be discreet, but as ds kept shouting about the concert at the same time as feeding ("Crash! go the cymbals!" slurp slurp slurp), it was challenging. A bloody woman I know didn't help by noticing me half way through from the other side of the hall and waving madly.

It was a children's concert, by the way. I'm sure there was worse going on elsewhere in the hall.

Do your norks have their own passport, hc?

Aww, hausofhorrors, and there was me thinking I was unique [sulk].

Hadn't thought about the breast shape, though. Must have inspired ds.

the tate & i had my photo taken for an exhibition whilest doing it.

ummm, restaurants/buses/lay-bys/service stations/parks/cemetaries/london eye/cinema. pretty much everywhere.......

moondog · 27/10/2005 20:15

Oh lovely
Did it last year at the foot of Mt Ararat which I thought was pretty cool.

karmamother · 28/10/2005 07:07

This might not be classed as an unusual place to bf but I did answer the door to the window cleaner to pay him whilst ds on boob. It was probably the closest a man other than dh had been to my lactating boobs ever. Funny, we didn't see him for a while after that....

pooka · 28/10/2005 09:03

The Tate restaurant. In a windy gale next to the Thames at Greenwich.

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 09:08

I often got suspected of breastfeeding when I wasn't. Ds used to lie down in his sling for naps and be carried about suspended somewhere around my ribs. Teenagers in particular used to shout "Oi, are you breastfeeding that baby?" Sometimes I shouted yes just to see what they would do (shambled off spottily, usually).

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 28/10/2005 09:11

franny - pmsl at you pretending to bf...

attention seeking nork related behaviour

tarantula · 28/10/2005 09:13

thewierdest place Ive done bf'd was in the tomb at Newgrange (another boob shaped place) . Have done it at RAH too.

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 09:20

[flounces off] Well, if you'd said you'd all done it there already....how was I to know, harrumph?

OP posts:
frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 09:21

HC, with norks like mine, I need to seek out all the attention I can get...

OP posts:
tarantula · 28/10/2005 09:23

oooooooooooo! Handbags at dawn is it? lol

(I wasn't in the auditorium at the time in front of the stage if that helps)

Better go off and start a 'please dont flounce franny thread now

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 09:29

LOL, yes, tarantula, call it "Don't flounce just because we all lobbed our norks out in the Albert Hall before you did".

I am aiming for the most bizarre thread title ever

OP posts:
buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 28/10/2005 09:34

like whatever....

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 09:38

The front seat of a police car - after our car crash in March, all the while cahtting to the police, an involved motor cyclist, concerned onlookers etc.

Laura032004 · 28/10/2005 10:57

Have sadly bf ds at both his grandmother and grandfathers funerals And at a wedding ceremony

On the tube last July (he was 16m), whilst in a v.posh frock and hat on the way to Buckingham Palace Did get a few looks, but it was really hot and his cup had just exploded. DH was stood next to me in full Navy uniform. We must have looked quite strange!

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 11:02

Was all set to discreetly feed on the tube yesterday when two of our neighbours , and all their kids, popped up and started chatting. I didn't have the nerve after that...I am a bit in the closet about breastfeeding as far as people I don't know well are concerned.

My mother has also said "Please don't tell any of my friends."

I fed dd anywhere and everywhere, the most unusual were sitting on the floor in the beer tent at the Eye county show and lying on the floor in the patients day room of Ward A4 at Addenbrookes while being cheered on by an elderly couple!

moondog · 28/10/2005 15:21

franny at your mum and am also psml at your simulated breastfeeding!
(What are those spooty oiks on??)
