Can you get Mastitis when DD is 10 months old?

Hi
Just a quickie as am at work. My DD is 10 months old, have been feeling decidedly rubbish for last 24/36 hours. Have now starting feeling feverish, hot etc., but boobs don't hurt. I'm expressing twice a day at work, but still feeding DD in evening and morning.

Can you get Mastitis when they're this age? HAve only been at work for 3 weeks (3 days a week).

Sorry about being quick.
Nikki

yes! DS is 17 months and I think I've got it. got my first bout when he was 6 months. I'm off to the GP in an hour - get yourself an appointment too!

yes you can get it at any point feeding :(

if your boobs aren't sore it might not be mastistis though, maybe flu or another bug?

I thought that the redness would be really obvious, but when I had it there was only a small pinkish patch on one boob. Antibiotics really help.

Hope you're both feeling better soon :)

Yes, I got it when DD was about that age and I had just returned to work.

I phoned the GP and they left me a prescription which I picked up after work.

If you are feeling like that you need the antibiotics as soon as poss.

I had it badly in one breast when DS was 10 months old - had been bothered by a blocked milk duct for a few weeks before that too, things got worse and worse and eventually I got full-blown mastitis whilst we were on holiday in France Sad. If your boobs are not sore though I would question whether it is mastitis. I felt like I had a red hot bomb in my bra! Hope you feel better soon. MPD

I got mastitis when dd was 8 months. Got a bit casual about which boob I fed from, missed a feed on a very busy day just before Christmas - few hours later my boob hurt (the one I hadn't fed her from) and next day I felt crap.
