stopping bf suddenly - advice for comfort?

i have, after much consideration, stopped bfing today. dd2 has taken a bottle well and without tears. i am happy that i have bfed as long as i wanted to. i do not wish to cut down gradually, as this approach has odd been more distressing (confusing i think) for dd2.

Has anyone done this? how did you minimise discomfort? I can pump, and am happy to do so for a few weeks if this is best.

That is a lot, so I would try to pump at those feed times for a while but perhaps not try and completely empty your breasts, and drop one of those times every few days. But perhaps you have already started something else by now - how are you getting on?

hi there - thanks for popping back.
i pumped last night before bed, and massaged and hand expressed in the shower this am, to take the edge off a bit. I'm uncomfortable, but not in any pain. yet.

That sounds quite positive then. What you don't want is to get really engorged (I hate that word!)and in pain. How is your dd?

she's grand, thanks. we were looking to switch to ff ahead of my return to work (job not v.compatible with bf), and something clicked yesterday, so i wanted to go with that - chopping and changing hasn't worked in the past, unfortunately. she was a bit pissed off when she didn't get a boob in the night, but only complained for a couple of minutes before downing 7oz.
