Not sure where to ask... periods and breastfeeding? Irregular?

Hi all,

Dd is 7 mo and started on food (baby led weaning so not a huge amount yet!) at 6 mo. She still breastfeeds a few times a day, then once at night.

I had a period nearly 2 months ago and nothing since, is this common? I'm assuming they're pretty irregular to begin with but can't find any info?

While I'm here I might as well ask another dim question, I assume I am not ovulating if I'm not having periods, bar the one that led to my lonely period a month or so ago?!

Thanks!

I had a period at 6 weeks, then nothing til 7 months Grin I assume it takes a while for your body to gear up to regular ovulation again after such a long break.

I would definitely assume you could ovulate at the moment though, so don't rely on bfing as contraception anymore!

I had a period at 4 mos and then next one nearly 2 months later so similar experience to you...

I wouldn't, personally, rely on BF as a contraceptive. I EBF DS for 4.5m (no other fluids/solids/dummies etc, just BM) and worked out that I conceived DD when DS was 3.5m old and I didn't have a period for around 4.5yrs AFTER finishing EBF.

As for periods, I was told the actual bleeding is just your body's way of flushing out an egg. You don't have to have a period to ovulate.
