Breast and Bottle Breast Milk Advice pls

Hi there,
My little one is now 12 days old and due to sore nipples I started expressing. Its been working quite well, no major problems.
My question is what is the best schedule to feed her on the breast then express the other one?
Express in between feeds - will there be enough milk for a feed following expressing?

Do your boobs only refill when you feel the let down surges or do they just respond to sucking and produce more?

Its been great whilst Hubby has been home on paternity leave as he's been able to help out with the night feeds using the expressed milk but as he goes back next week all feeds will be down to me. My nipples are still getting quite sore so plan to keep expressing and give thema break when needed.

What order should I express/feed in? Or length of time I should leave in between expressing and feeding.

If you fully expressing, then try not to leave any longer than 3 hrs between expressings.

Have you thought about fixing the sore nipples problem rather than carrying on expressing?

Most sore nipples probs are alleviated once you have mastered the latch and attach correctly. This could be a lot less hassle than trying to keep up with the expressing.

For info, your breasts won't refill as such; once they are 3/4 depleated, a reflex kicks in and recognises that more milk is needed. Breasts never 'drain'.

You will tend to be more able to express early mornning and find it harder as the day goes on whcih is why it's important not to leave it too long in between.

Get irl with latch - using a bottle could be worsening latch issues (so actually making you more sore rather than being a solution).
