Number of bottles - 8 months old

Hi

I'm just trying to get a rough idea if I'm on the right track with my 8mo DD in terms of how many bottles/how much solid I give her. I started weaning her at approx 5 months.

Her (rough!) feeding routine is:

7oz bottle
Porridge & fruit puree

7 oz bottle - mid morning

Lunch - e.g. half a mashed banana & a yoghurt

7 oz bottle - mid afternoon

Dinner - something savoury & fruit

8 oz bottle - bedtime

At the moment this seems to be suiting her fine and she currently sleeps through the night (10-12 hours). Obviously, I'll keep observing her over the coming months and drop a bottle as and when necessary.

Just interested to hear though what others do with similar age babies.

Thanks Smile

my ds also had 4 bottles at that age. He dropped to 3 bottles around 9 months

Thanks for that Seona. Which bottle did he drop first?

At the moment DD never really demands food (IYSWIM) but I constantly seem to feeding her something. Slight exaggeration there Wink

Once my DS was eating 3 decent meals I only gave him 4oz mid-morning and mid-afternoon. So we didn't drop a bottle as such, just reduced the amount.

At about 9mo we dropped the mid-morning one and moved lunch forward for a bit. DS is now 11mo and I feel like I should be dropping the mid-afternoon one but he seems to really want it still so I'm not going to rush.

That does help mull. I was a bit concerned that I'm giving her too much milk (29oz per day) so perhaps reducing the amounts is the way to go.

Sounds like I'm pretty much on the right track so thanks for your help.

Anyone else?

ds dropped the mid-morning bottle first and I replaced it with a snack and drink of water. He had started taking less at that feed so I stopped offering it.

Thanks Seona
