baby with diarrhea - any tips on getting him to take water?

My little 5 month old ds has a temp and diarrhea - we've been to A&E and they said he's OK but we should keep his fluid levels up. He's breastfed and I've been feeding more often, but he's not always interested between normal feeds and I can't persuade him to drink water from a bottle at all (he happily takes expressed feeds though). Any ideas?

My ds is exclusively bf and wont take bottles...takes calpol off the spoon like a dream though and has happily had syringe into the mouth with vitmains when a premie...

Breast milk is absolutely the best for him at the moment. I wouldn't worry about the water if he doesn't like it, just try to give more bf and ebm.

Hope he's soon better.

if he has Diarrhea you should give him fluid replacement satchets 1 after each episode of diarrhea or vomiting. You can get them in chemists and mybaby drank them fine although he refused water

For breastfed babies there is no need for diarrhoea replacement fluids or water. The best treatment is increasing breastfeeds as breastmilk is full of antibodies which will aid recovery.
