My friend had her baby on Tuesday. He is Tongue tied and cannot latch properly. She had a c-sec so is still in hospital. Getting loads of help but they can't sort Tongue tie out until next Wednesday because the person who does it is away. She is struggling now so would like it sorted out earlier. Does anyone know of any where else she couldgo?
Thanks

Could she get a private doc to do it?Next wednesday is a long time to wait if he is struggling to latch. She could call a private lactation consultant in her area and ask for advice/ details of someone who would snip it.(google "lactation consultant " for a local list.

I had my son in Kingston 18 mths ago and had a fab lactation consultant from new Malden called heather higgins. sorry I don't have her number on me as not at home this week but she's a doula too so googling should find her. Hope you get some help!

It's a long way to go but I took my son to mr Patel at kings college hospital. He was fantastic. Or you could try a lactation consultant called Mary griffiths. She's qualified to do tongue tie. If I can find her number i'll post it. She comes to you.

Alternatively she could express some feeds to give to baby and even top up with formula for a few days until tongu tie person back.

DD3's wasn't diagnosed for 14 days and I expressed alot, still BF for a year after snip.

good luck.

I had dd's tongue tie snipped at Kings College Hospital in Dulwich last Weds- much better for the both of us now. We were referred by Tower Hamlets (where I live) bf support workers but you may be able to contact them directly for help. Mr Patel is the consultant, they work out of the Caldecot Centre at Kings.

For a private lactation consultant who can operate at your friend's house, google Anne Dobson. We used her last year when DS was about 2 weeks old. She came within 24 hours of our call, did the op and then stayed a few hours to teach us a latch that would work while DS and my poor nipples recovered. Am still bfding almost 13 months later, so def worth the expense for us. Would have gone to Kings or St Georges otherwise, but would have had to wait 3-4 days longer and was in absolute agony...
