A pair of deflated balloons!! : (

So getting to the end of BFing my DD, she is 7 months and old has one breast feed a day and sometimes not even that. My boobs now just look really sorry for themselves! I always wished I has amazing boobs and now I realise they were pretty good (I guess you never appreciate what you've got until it's gone!) but now the look like deflated ballons, it is so depressing. I have loved BFing and am definitely going to miss it, just a bit gutted by the side effect of going up 4 or 5 cup sizes!

Lol mine too!!

CamperFan · 16/02/2011 19:27

Oh don't, I am dreading stopping and having two spaniels ears. They weren't too bad after DS, but after a second I fear the worst!

orangemarzipan · 16/02/2011 21:34

Ghostie that made me laugh, it's quite upsetting though isn't it. If it's any consolation, my friends who haven't breastfed said their boobs have sagged as well. They think it's being pregnant rather than breastfeeding that does it.

Eight months after stopping bfing, mine have improved a bit from the empty bags when I first stopped, I think you put some fat reserves back on or something like that. They aren't the same as before though...

Indith · 16/02/2011 21:58

Mine have to be rolled up into a bra. I keep eating cake but I'm still waiting for the fat to be put onto my boobs rather than my arse.

threetimesabridesmaid · 16/02/2011 22:49

My DD is 8mths & still on 3 feeds a day, but my boobs suddenly seem to have sagged overnight! Hurrah for underwired, padded bras!

KnottyLocks · 16/02/2011 22:55

Don't Panic!

They may return Smile. Mine took 6 months post breastfeeding but are now fuller and look like breasts instead of saggy bags. Not the perky ones they once were, granted.

rodformyownback · 16/02/2011 23:07

Like Knotty said. Mine really perked up a few months after I stopped feeding ds1. They are now what I consider Gargantuan (an F cup where I was a B before first pregnancy) but I fear that gravity is taking its inevitable toll and I'm going to end up with shrivelled udders when I stop feeding ds2.

Ghostie · 17/02/2011 08:33

Indith, that really made me laugh. I'm on a diet, getting married in the summer, so I am sure that doesn't help with the fat reserves!

rodformyownback, I was an FF before I even got pregnant and then went up 4 sizes!! And I've heard of people who have ended up with smaller boobs after BFing. I'm currently around a G, which now looks small after the J, or Z or whatever studpid size I went upto!

Fingers crossed for the 6 month plump up!! Smile

Ghostie, I had similar ridiculous size changes and can tell you that you are likely to end up slightly larger than before, however deflated they are now. The 6 month plump up helps but is not a guarantee sadly. (Not just my experience, am a bra fitter).

If you haven't already, get a smaller bra rather than hanging about in the bottom of the old hammocks ones.
Damage limitation Wink

This one is good for my spaniels ears and even if you get it a tiny bit bigger in the cup to allow for variance, it looks ok on. Most of the Masquerade balcony styles sit well and create fullness at the top of the cup which is where you really notice the difference.

HTH Smile

I haven't breastfed my other children and still had really droopy boobs for months aft they were born although they did slowly regain some of their perkiness they haven't been the same since baby number one was born!. I have been breastfeeding my fourth for nearly 7 months now and she is showing no signs of wanting to stop so im sort of dreading the effect this time lol.having said that the rest of my body is not exactly a vision of beauty so maybe it's for the best that i match! Grin

EauRouge · 17/02/2011 12:23

Don't worry, everyone is in the same boat Grin regardless of whether they FF or BF- BF is not behind saggy boobs.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/02/2011 12:30

When you bf the % and ratio of fat in the breast decreases to make way for the milk ducts.

A while after you stop bf'ing it changes back as the milk ducts shrink and the fat starts to return. It's the fat that gives you the plump look.

However I don't think they ever look the same. Pregnancy stretches them and of course you're getting older so the skin isn't so elastic.
