Hi, I was wondering if any of you lovely people could give me some advice.

DD is 6mo, and has been EBF with no problems until 2 weeks ago, when I had blocked ducts on first the inside, and then the outside of my left breast. This was very painful, but I managed to shift them with hot baths and massage, and eventually a sterilised pin.

However, although the ducts now seem fine, I'm in a lot of pain, like someone is pressing a hot iron on the outside of my breast, and the nipple is very sore when I feed her. There are two small round areas on my nipple where my skin is white, but no obvious split or crack.

I've been to the GP, who has ruled out infection, but given me a course of antibiotics to keep at home to take if any red areas appear, or if I feel unwell, but so far, that hasn't happened.

The breastfeeding counsellor came out, and talked to me for a bit, and said just to keep feeding her, and to make sure that the breast is drained, which is what I normally do. But the pain is not getting any better.

Presumably the GP didn't rule out thrush?

Did you tell the GP about the pin? Shock

Hang on...was the pin for a milk blister? Confused I was imagining something way gory-er.

The pin was for a milk blister! Grin

Yes, I told the GP. I got the idea from on here! It worked very well.

I had the same thing (no pin used tho!)Really painful at the time but I persevered - warm flannel etc and it eventually sorted itself out - took 2-3 days I think - it was a long time ago!

No, the gp didn't rule out thrush, but when I googled that, I didn't recognise the symptoms in either me or DD. Do you think it could be thrush?
