they feel like someone's had them in pliers - every slightest touch is wince-worthy - but I can't see anything.

Any clues why this might be? what should i look for/try? dd is in the middle of extremely protracted and very miserable teething (not to mention a scorching case of attachment anxiety) so quitting would really not be my choice.

Any chance you could be pregnant? Super sore nipples were always my first sign.

preggo

Either pregnancy or thrush - get yourself checked out for both!

coldcomfortHeart · 05/02/2011 08:43

yup, pregnancy, thrush, or maybe ovulation, if you haven't yet started that again!

Phd - I reckon pregnant too. You might want to get that checked out as from what I recall it took you a little while to notice last time Grin

The other thing is you could try shifting her position a bit? It may be that she's now got teeth where she didn't before and that's causing some pressure?

phdlife · 09/02/2011 10:45

thank you all for suggestions - sorry I've been away. :p to northernlurker I was hoping people might've forgotten that by now Grin

99% sure I'm not pg and now it's just miraculously stopped - possibly because I explained to dd that it was sore and after a day of thinking about it she came to a feed, patted my nipple and asked, "hore?" and when I said (through gritted teeth) that yes, it was still sore, she gave it a kiss and said, "better now?"

that and I made her practise a "big mouth" latch. v funny to watch once I got over shark terrors Grin
