sharpe pain in breast

Was feeding my 7+5 week old and noticed I get a sharpe stabbing pain in my right breast, also got this pain after feeding, any ideas wot it could be? Feels a bit uncomfy when he squishes it with his hand but not painful as such. Its towards the centre of my chest side of the breast.

Could be a slightly blocked duct? I would feed as much as possible and gently feel for a lump.if you find one then hot flannels before a feed,ibuprofen every four hours,and combing towards the nipple with an afro comb can help shift it.Otherwise could be start of thrush in a duct,so see your GP if it goes on for a couple of days.

I had various random aches and pains in my breasts for the first few months - never developed into anything. If it's just a one off or occasional it might just be things settling down?

There's no lumps that I can feel, fed ds on it for a little longer than normal but thought I best switch after so long so it doesn't get full. I get the pains in my right breast and when he's feeding from the left I get them more. Not sure wot a block duct feels like as I've only had mastitus. If u get mastitus your just hit with all of a sudden it aren't u? There's no build up to it?

Hi pinkyp. I had similar with ds2. I would agree with above posts re blocked duct, ductal thrush or just normal adjustment.

If blocked duct, could develop into mastitis, If u do feel a lump/blocked duct try feed with baby's chin over area to work that side.

Could be ductal thrush. This presented with sharp pains thro breast and behind nipple between feeds. It increased in frequency before ds2 due next feed. Ds2 and I both treeated and better.

Could be neither and may settle.

Try a diary for 24 hours re pattern and see if there is a baby cafe near by to discuss.

I had pain in the other breast during letdown with thrush fwiw. Now we seem to be over the thrush, the other-side pain seems to have stopped too.

thank u all, havent noticed it yet but he fed alot from that side this morning so might of helped
