Breast size after breastfeeding is over...

I stopped breastfeeding 3 weeks ago after a very unsuccessful (and fairly traumatic) month.

My breasts aren't as big as they were while breastfeeding, but they're not as small as they were previously. When can I expect them to shrink a bit - or can't I?

I think it varies - mine have stayed a cup size larger than they were before. I'm not happy - all my nice bras don't fit anymore! I bf for quite a long time though.

Mine are bigger now than before I bf'd but so are my arse & thighs.

I think it depends on what size you yourself shrink to, or don't. My breasts gradually shrank as I lost the baby weight and pretty much went back to the size they were before, albeight a bit saggier! but that was more to do with pregnancy and weight gain then actual breastfeeding. They will shrink down to your pre-pregnancy size over the coming months and in about 6mths you'll probably be the same size you were previously.

I hope they don't stay this size - I'm straining against my non maternity clothes!

I wasn't big during pregnancy (only gained 1.5 stone) and have about 7lbs to lose. Maybe it's that last half stone that will make all the difference - because yes, arce and thighs are bigger too

I bf for 15 months and about a month after stopping mine were back to their normal size. But then I was back to my pre baby weight too.

I think it may depend a bit on your weight now and what it was before you had the baby.

Mine are a little smaller now after 6 months because I have lost some weight.

TheSleepFairy - nice pic!

Mine have ended up staying a cup size larger after each child. So pre 2 DCs to now = E-FF. Weight remained constant so that's not the reason.

IME, the bigger the increase throughout pregnancy and bf, the more likely they are to remain larger than before.

It's a bit like blowing up a balloon- the bigger it gets stretched, the less likely it is to resemble it's original dimensions when deflated!

Yessssssss!!! These are all very encouraging anecdotes Smile.

Mine have stayed a cup size larger. I believed that they would be smaller after as all my, ffing, friends and family told me that pregancy would shrink them.

DefNotYummyMummy · 29/01/2011 10:18

oh god i am jealous. After feeding for a year each (2 dc) mine are saggy bits of skin with nipples on. I went from 34C to 34A. This is mainly because I think I lost half a stone from my pre-pregnancy weight and all that lovely fat that used to be in my boobs has disappeared. V. depressed and thinking of breast augmentation !

Why couldn't the fat go off my arse ?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 29/01/2011 10:48

DefNot don't be depressed. I look at my saggy belly and just think it's normal after having 2DC. I wouldn't think twice about it.

DefNotYummyMummy · 29/01/2011 14:09

JiltedJohn - you are right. You can't have 2 (now I am on my third) and not come off unscathed. That's life.

And I know it's a cliche - but I wouldn't change it for the world ! They are just so lovely.
