Bottles closest to breast?

Hi.
I am pregnant with twins. I am planning on breastfeeding(Or at least giving it a good go) I would also like to express breastmilk and for my DP to be able to feed them.

I have read about nipple confusion... so am wondering what are the best bottles and teats to use?...

I know none of them will be like my breast exactly but can you recommend any brands...there are so many I am totally confused.

Also what are the best sterilising kits to use?? so many questions..... any advice would be really appreciated. ! Smile

I don't know if it's nipple confusion so much as babies coming to prefer the ease of a bottle as they don't have to work at it like breastfeeding. So long as you wait til your supply is well established (6 weeks-ish), don't give too many bottles and don't use too fast a teat it should be ok.

I use Breastflow bottles - the sucking action is supposed to be more similar to breastfeeding as the baby has to work at it rather than the milk just flowing out.

We use cold water sterilising with a Milton bucket and tablets. It's easy, cheap, has never wrecked anything (unlike friends with microwave sterilisers melting pump parts!) and we figured that if it was good enough in scbu, it was good enough for home. Smile

Re. bottles, we use either a Medela Calma or Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles. Not tried Breastflow ones. The most important thing IME is to ensure the baby takes a bottle the same way they have to take the nipple - mouth wide open and tongue down.

Make sure you get loads of help early on to establish latching with both babies as you won't want to have to spend loads of time bfing one twin who's struggling or only bfing one twin and never feeding the other.

I found the Tomee Tipee closer to nature flow was way too fast so my LO was gulping down way too much too quicklt and invariably it all came back up again.. I got the Breastflow bottles and find them much much better. They had them in TK Maxx recently and Mothercare stock them.

DD2 seems to like the Nuby bottles - the TT ones seem to end up with her with milk flowing all over her face.

japhrimel I melted my pump in the microwave!!!

Breastflow from Mothercare were good
