My 14 mo isn't feeding from me. Any thoughts?

My ds is 14 months and is down to one bf a day. I particularly want him to continue breast feeding as he is having repeat ear infections (3 burst eardrums in 3 weeks over xmas) and apparently breastfeeding can help, but I think he's just going off it. Every morning for the past 4 days he's fed for about a minute and then pulled off (with a tug and a bite. Ouch!)

Any thoughts about how I can keep feeding him? Will I still be able to produce milk on one minute's feed a day? Does he actually need it, or should I let him dictate that it's time to stop? Any advice would be v much appreciated.

formerdiva does he have formula or cows milk as well as Bfing and if so, could you cut back on that?

Not a lot actually (in fact I've wondered whether he should have more).

He's just on full fat cow's milk - 2 bottles a day when he's with me (4 days a week) and 1 a day when he's in the nursery (3 days a week). Other than that it's just water. Maybe I should try swapping his bed time milk bottle tonight for a bf instead?

forma I'm not trained and don't know how much he should be having each day unfortunately.

How much milk does he have in his bottles, could you Bf him after lunch on the days you are home, and have you talked it through with a Bfing Counsellor?

No I haven't. I've got the number of a bfing counsellor so I'll give her a go tomorrow if trying a night feed fails tonight! Thanks very much for helping me with this - I know I should probably have thought of that myself, but sometimes it's easy to be too close to what's happening and lose sight of the bloomin' obvious Smile
