Feeling nervous, will he go back to the boob?

I have been expressing for my 6 week old DS for the past 2 weeks as he was mangling my nipple with suspected tongue tie, and I got thrush. Feeding time had become very stressful and I had to stop for my sanity, always planning to go back to BF afet a break.

Tomorrow, I will take DS to the TT clinic, hopefully that will solve one problem.

I'm really nervous though that he's not going to go back to the boob after two weeks on a bottle. Will he have forgotten what little he learned before I started expressing?

I am also nervous for myself, and know I could have been BFing once or twice for a few minutes a day just to keep him familiar with it, but I haven't. I think it's partly because i don't really enjoy it (i have huge boobs, found the whole thing awkward, painful, stressful), but I really loved the quiet, cuddly time together and I don't want to deprive him of that.

So, yes. Bit nervous about tomorrow.

Good luck tomorrow :)

DS had his TT snipped at 11 weeks, so I know how nerve-racking it is.

I expressed a lot in those first few weeks, and used breast shields, so I was really worried that he wouldn't be able to latch back on again properly. I kept thinking I should bf, even just for a short while so that he wouldn't get out of practice, but I kept chickening out.

In the end, I went cold turkey on the shields and cut right back on the expressing a couple of weeks before the TT was snipped because I was so worried, but he was fine. His latch was still lousy until he was snipped, but it didn't take him long to get the hang of things.

It is a lovely, cuddly time - hopefully you'll get it all sorted tomorrow :)

island hope all goes well tomorrow. Have you got a local Bfing Counsellor who you could talk to and support you through the transition?
