Does anyone have experience of this please and can guide me...

Background: Baby had really foul smelling nappies at 2-3 wks that were really watery and mucus-y/gel-like in consistency, she was windy and congested. I chose to cut out diary products after researching online these symptoms. she was failing to gain weight also. Around 4 weeks we were admitted to hospital and tongue tie released and some continued feeding problems meant I had to mix feed.

She dropped from the 75th centile to the 9th in the first 6 weeks. But she picked up once we found out how to make a go of mixed feeding (I BF and top up every feed its about 50:50) At 13 weeks she leaped to the 50th, so my HV said go ahead and introduce diary to my diet, her nappies once again look as they did at 2-3 weeks so I am concerned (although HV said could coincidentally be teething) I'm off dairy again. Formula is Nutrimagen.

I guess I will try diary again in a few weeks and try to rule out teething but if we have an issue, is there anything else I can do, is this a problem with regards to weaning her, will she grow out of it?

Does anyone have experience please?

My DS was intolerant to dairy too. He vomited after every feed and was clearly in a lot of discomfort. When I stopped eating any dairy myself he recovered within 24 hours.

At various intervals I tried small amounts of dairy, but he always reacted, so I didn't return it to my own diet until I weaned him at 14 months.

However, when I did eventually wean him, I found that he could drink cow's milk and eat yogurt and other dairy products himself with no ill effects. I think he grew out of the intolerance at about 12 months.
It has been no further problem and he has no other signs of allergies or intolerances.

Thank you RuthChan, this is encouraging, I'm not sure if I an wait this long to wean as I mix feed and will return to work in the coming months but my baby's reaction isn't so bad as you describe so it gives me hope that she will also outgrow.
