DS may have reflux, what can I do to help him feed?

We're seeing the GP tomorrow am, but on the basis of another thread several people have said he may have reflux.

What would people recommend to help him? Feeding time is pretty hellish at the moment.

I've been told he should be more upright when he feeds, is there a position that works well for this? He's a long, wriggly 3 month old.

Thanks in advance :)

Are you bottle of bf?

DD1 had this (improved completely after she was on solids) but up until then I had to get halfway through a feed, mix up gaviscon powder with cooled boiled water (while feeding), take her off, syringe the gaviscon in, then finish her bf. It's easier with bottles as you just put the powder in the formula and shake it.

When I finally conceive number 2, I've told dh I want a babybeanbag, they are supposed to be great for reflux as they are gently tilted (my bouncer was a bit too upright - great for moving to solid feed but rubbish for 1st few months).

Good luck xx

Thanks princess. He's BF.

Can I buy gaviscon over the counter do you know?

I actually have a baby beanbag, I'll have to use it more!

No you have to get it from GP but they are always reluctant to give it to you. They will only prescribe it if your baby is loosing weight or not gaining weight!

Both mine had reflux, first didn't 'grow' out of it until i started to wean her at 6 months but my little boy got a lot better by the time he was about 12 weeks. You can get formula (if you bottle feed) that is specifically designed for reflux, i think its just thicker, but I never tried it and you should speak to your health visitor first. I think you can also get milk thickeners if you breastfeed and express.

I pushed the point and got an appointment with consultant but dd had lost a bit of weight.
