Facebook deleting profiles of mothers who show pictures of breastfeeding...

Not wanting to cause a debate, just to let people know there is a facebook event - "facebook nurse-in", which has been started in protest because of the profiles that have been deleted as they have pics of the profile user breastfeeding.

You do know that for facebook to have removed the pictures/groups etc, that someone has complained about it, don't you? Because everyone seems to assume that facebook workers go through profiles/groups looking for stuff to delete, but they don't...they have to be alerted to it first.

They do also delete other pics if altered to them, but most people seem to view scantily clad/naked women as far better to look at than breastfeeding mothers.

Not saying that deleting them is right, just that if you have had photos deleted, one of your friends has complained about it.

That's what I suspected, hasn't happened to me personally but was considering mentioning it to the group...

FB seems to have removed this group now....

Have facebook given a reason for deleting the pictures?

There's a whoile big FB group on this issue. Breasts com under their obscene pictures policy whether they're being used for feeding or titillation. It's an absolute policy.

Silly one imho since the two kinds of pictures are radically different but...

iirc they delete pictures not profiles.

It's because the pictures contain breasts not because they are of breastfeeding.

The group has been deleted. Lucky I noticed that my DH had accidentally (so he says) uploaded a pic of my DS having his "christmas dinner", and he deleted it!

Male nipples are ok for facebook, but not the edges of a feeding boob......??
