Hipp Organic-Saw this in local shop- what is it?

I saw this in my local shop, the label is in Polish(?) and I was wondering, well, who is it for?

It was with the tea, so I guess it's tea, but do babies drink tea? It's not on the Hipp UK website...

European babies drink 'tea' - herbal teas. Goodness knows what they claim it does, don't speak Polish :)

Obv it is not a necessary product and it interferes with excl bf.

Hipp do a whole range of teas for babies, there is a cammomile one which is meant to help them sleep/relax them, one for digestion (raspberry??), an apple one for vitamins or wellbeing I think. I'm a midwife and we have a lot of Eastern European women in our town, I've known some of them use it.

Ah. Why don't they sell it in the UK? Does it contravene marketing guidelines?

Well as far as I know the breastmilk code is international so anything that is against the code in the UK should be against the code in Poland. The only thing I can think is that its against the WHO code to promote breastmilk alternatives or to give out misleading information. In Poland they probably don't have to promote it or explain what its about as its a more cultural norm to give these sort of products to newborns.

If they stuck them on the shelves here then people (apart from the eastern europeans) wouldn't know the "benefits" so probably wouldn't buy them. I don't think HIPP would be allowed to explain the benefits as I doubt there is any scientfic evidience behind any claims.

I used to give DS Hipp organis Fennel tea (8 years ago) and have been looking for it today! DS had it when he was about a year old as he loved it. I want some for DD (8 weeks) as she is terribly terribly windy
