I am now at the stage that I feed my son at mornings and nights and want to get prepared to finish breast feeding by 12 months old. I b/f at 7am and give breakfast at 8am and get the feeling that he doesnot always eat that well at b/f meal.
How do I cut down or what do you suggest on how to do this?

I found that my first 2 boys cut down on there own. Ds1 stopped b/f at 6mo and Ds2 at 8mo. Ds3 I was feeding up until last week he's neaarly 11 mo. I found that by offering him a training cup during the day instead of b/f, letting him adjust to that first and then a bottle at night before bed, he has made the transition quite sucessfully. I did things slow and gradually. DS3 would not accept a bottle until about 3 weeks.
Good Luck Jasmer

hi, I fed my daughter till she was 9 1/2 months old and decided to stop as i found out i was pregnant with our second child! i found that going 'cold turkey' worked best. although make sure you keep them hidden from the baby as amber liked to lunge for them. one of my friends found that gradually reducing her childs feeds one by one worked best for her.

Good luck

I started to offer water as a wake up drink at about 10.5 months as DS wasn't eating his breakfast either then offered him milk before his morning nap. I kept going with the bedtime feed.

I'd introduced a mid am and mid pm beaker of cows milk at 11 months as I am pregnant again and 'a bit slim' (HV!) which was going well. He was still having the two feeds by 12 months but was really fidgety so a week after his birthday I stopped feeding and he just had beakers of milk. He didn't seem to notice and just guzzles his milk! TBH I'm not sure how much I was producing so he's probably getting nicely full now!

BTW - HVs here are 'against' bottles and as DS never had one, I went straight onto beakers. I use the Avent ones.

HTH.
