DD1 is exclusively breast fed and 12 weeks old. For the last week and a half her day feeds having been getting progressively harder. She screams whenever I try to feed her, and arches her back and pulls off me. She does this before she's even taken any milk, so its not wind. At first I took this as a sign that she wasn't hungry yet, so stopped feeding her as frequently (usually every 2-3 hours, was dropping to every 4-5 hours), but then she still screamed even when the gap between feeds was long. When I persisted through the screaming and basically forced her to stay on me, she fed frantically as though she was actually really hungry. Now if I persist through the screaming, she will always take a proper feed, but pulls off frequently to scream, and I almost have to clamp her head in place to get her to feed. Last night I was reduced to standing up jigging her whilst feeding, whilst she had her body arched out at a 90 degree angle from mine. I'm talking screaming, not crying, by the way.
Night time feeds are fine, easy and completely normal. Someone has suggested she may be teething, and she does have occasional flushed cheeks, but I'm not convinced this is the case. She wont take a bottle or I think I would have gone that road by now. I really really want to avoid abandoning breast feeding (plus it will be a struggle to abandon it anyway as she refuses bottles!), but I just don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. I'm dreading feeding her at the moment :( Does anyone have any suggestions??
